Ep. 27: Reconnect with Old Friends

Are you missing old friends who you lost touch with? Suzanne Oshima, Life Coach for Women Over 50, reminds you it’s never too late to reconnect — sometimes, all it takes is one simple message or call that can reignite the old friendship your heart has been missing.
Reconnect with Old Friends

In this episode of the Life is Now…Do It While You Can podcast, Life Coach for Women Over 50, Suzanne Oshima shares how making new friends in midlife is wonderful — but if we’re being honest, it can take years to build the kind of deep, emotional connection your heart really craves.

And that’s when you start to miss your old friends—the one who you’ve lost touch with for one reason or another.

Sometimes we drift.

Sometimes we move.

And sometimes, a simple misunderstanding turns into a silence that lasts far too long.

And what you really miss is that really close connection.

The friend who just gets you.

The one you can talk and laugh with for hours.

The one you can call day or night to cry on her shoulder.

The one you never have to explain yourself to.

Here’s the beautiful truth though: the memories don’t fade. And the bond doesn’t always disappear.

If you’ve been missing an old friend, maybe this is a sign, it’s time to reconnect.

Because sometimes, all it takes is for you to send one brave message or make one phone call to bring those friendships you’ve been missing back into your life in an instant.

Don’t wait…do it now.  Because life is now…and you need to do it while you can!

Action Steps to Reconnect with an Old Friend

  1. Think of just one friend you’ve lost touch with — someone who you miss dearly.

  2. Find a way to reach out. If you don’t have her number anymore, look her up on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn.

  3. Just be real. Send a simple message: “You popped into my mind today, and I miss our friendship. I’d love to catch up if you’re open to it.”

  4. If there was a falling out, be brave. Acknowledge how things were left and, if it feels right, own your part with a heartfelt apology.

  5. Take the first step today. Don’t wait for “someday.” The friendship you miss might just be one call or message away.

Remember: The friends who mattered most don’t have to stay in the past. Sometimes all it takes is one brave moment to bring them back into your life — and you might be surprised at how quickly the old friendship comes alive again.
